X-Base is THE laptop cooling system upgrade.  X-Base has many, we wouldn’t call them competitors… weaker counterparts in the market that are much less expensive, but if you are serious about your gear, there is no other choice.  Heat is you computer processor’s natural enemy, so cooling is vital. The X-Base’s design allows for natural cooling of your laptop without a fan.  This beast also sports an easily adjustable slope, a built in cord organizer and weighs less than a pound.  The X-Base is precision machined from blocks of steel & aluminum (except the 8mm thick heat sink) providing a balanced, solid & durable base.  This base is so diesel that if it had a laptop of it’s own it would use Chuck Norris as a cooling system!

That is diesel! I need another job so I can afford all this stuff.

I’d like to see this thing and the BlueLounge laptop thing from a few days ago in the octagon!

So… This simply lifts the fan intake off the desk/table an inch or two?

I’ve achieved the same thing with two pencils sitting under my laptop.

  4. Chromeo says:

This is a waste of money!

I agree, too expensive for what it does….waste

My laptop actually overheated when I was watching a DVD on my bed. It wouldn’t turn back on, I though it was dead till I called tech support. I see the importance of keeping laptops cool and the xbase looks great but I can’t see myself spending that kind of money on one.

No, there are cooling fins underneath. It works a cpu heat sink. The heat can dispense faster because the fins multiply the cooling area a few times. It should work.

I would never pay that much for a stand. I wouldn’t even want to cary it around in my backpack. Because that’s what laptops are for, carrying around.

I really think it is very nice, the design, the build and the functioning. Sometime next month a friend of mine is gonna get one. I wouldn’t be able to buy this one myself, but if I had the spare money left, I really would.

@rakel 17″ laptops are not really funny to lug around, but they are still portable. so it is a not-worst of both ways in a sense, but on the other hand I’ve got 1920×1200 pixels, a battery time of 4 hours (at most) and everything I ever need with me when I go to customers, work in the beach-house or just recline back in my Stokke Gravity. Ever tried that with a desktop??

  9. I agree–it seems a bit pricey. Impressive but pricey. If you can literally but a laptop for cheaper than the device to cool it, then you know something’s off. I’m sure there’s a market out there for it though.
