Here is my suggested design (please disregard the bad photoshopping):
Ok, since my original post yesterday I have decided that their design (pictured below) SUCKS! So I am posting my better design.
In it’s current form, you have your left hand on the fret buttons, and you strum the guitar on the touch screen with your right…AWKWARD!!! Here is my idea which I believe is genius:
Have a small wired attachment about 24" long that goes to a trigger like control that you hold in right hand (kind of like the wii nunchuck). Then you’d hold the DS in your left hand up so you can see the screen and you hold the extension control in your right hand down by your hip… and rock out. This way you don’t have to break too much from the guitar power stance. The extension controller could be small and wrap around a cord spool on the back of the unit when you are on the road.
Patent Pending (is that all I have to do, just say patent pending or do I have to do some legal stuff?)
Let me know what you think.

I see that design as being really hard to hold.. too narrow, and unnecessarily clunky(it’s portable, who wants to carry around wired crap?)..but it’s inventive nonetheless.
also, guitar hero isn’t made by nintendo.. post title should be “listen up activision…”

hm, by disclosing your idea publicly, I think you forfit being able to patent it (something to do with prior art)
disclaimer: this is not my area of expertise
Your idea sucks.
Hey, you asked.
Fair enough Wang Clip, everyones entitled to their opinion, and it wouldn’t be the first time my genius has gone unrecognized. Do you have a better idea? Thanks for the input.
Yeah great idea…hmmmm, you spent time thinking about this and went to the trouble of putting this on the internet? Guitar Hero DS will suck anyway.
The idea seems cool enough, and I don’t mean to diss you, but how do you strum it? On fast songs, it’d be really hard to strum. As of right now, I like their idea better. I’m sure you can improve it a ton though.
Thanks for the feedback Alex, I guess I didn’t spend much time thinking about how you would actually strum. I got a little preoccupied with where you hold it. Now that I think about it, that would be impossible to strum. Someone suggested on some message board (I don’t remember where) that they put a belt clip on my controller so you can put it on your belt or pocket, then your hand would be free to strum. I like that idea but I think I like the idea of just having a trigger you pull, like on the wii nunchuck. Not really like strumming a guitar but neither is tapping a screen with a stylus.
Jesus Christ there is plenty of spammy feedback on this webpage. Have you actually believed about attempting to remove them or installing a extension?
