Jott is a great free service that lets you call a toll free number and have your voice transcribed and relayed as a text message, email, or saved as a note or to do list…. and it actually works!  I tried a service like this about a year ago (don’t remember it’s name) and it worked great… for amusing / annoying my contacts.  It was like a bad game of telephone.  I’d call in with a message like "Sorry I’m running late, I’ll be there in a few" and it would come out "The Spaceman took the bait and the bear is in the goo".  Great for making my friends and coworkers think I was tapped, not so great for productivity.  I was pumped to find Jott and be able to send coherent messages.

Here’s how it works:  Sign up for a free account and enter your phone number in.  Next you can enter your contacts.  Now when you want to send a message you simply call the toll free number and voice asks "who do you want to Jott?"  Just say the name of the person you want to message, Jott looks for them in your contact list and then asks if they found the right person, confirm and start recording your message.  Jott takes your message, transposes it and sends them a text message and an email with the transposed message and a link to hear the recorded message.    Skeptical I started out talking like I was a little challenged "Thiisss - iiissss - aaa -  teeessssttttt".  I took it up a notch and started talking like I normally would on the phone and Jott didn’t miss a beat.

If you want to make a note or a reminder to yourself, just call in and when it ask who you want to Jott, just say "Me" and Jott away. Jott Links adds a slew of functionality as well.  Through thier partnerships with other services Jott Links allows you to post to your blog, manage expense reports, find speed traps, interface with your CRM… all via voice and Jott.
