Mobile phones, mobile computers, mobile offices… we are a culture on the move. I used to move at least once a year, and I hated it, lugging flimsy cardboard boxes, awkward furniture… in fact on of the only reasons I am not more mobile is because I hate to move so much. That might change with the Casulo, a portable apartment in a box. This marvel of design fits an armoire, a desk, a height adjustable stool, two more stools, a bookshelf, and a bed with mattress all inside this box that measures 74" (L) x 31" (W) x 35" (H) and weighs about 330 lbs.
According to their website, the Casulo can be assembled in minutes with no tools and packed back up again to be transported. This box need no packing materials. It was designed to protect everything inside, plus about 1/3 of the space in the box can accommodate storage for essentials like clothes, books and your mobile companion. Currently this is still a prototype but it has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response, and its designers, Marcel Krings & Sebastian Mühlhäuser, are currently working on manufacturing and distribution for the global market.
