The Uno Electric Motorcycle, or MotorUnicycle

 image

Dubbed the Uno, this crazy Segway / crotch rocket hybrid is the result of teen, Ben Gulak’s preternatural engineering skills combined with his desire to help the environment.  This "motorUnicycle" actually has two wheels, side by side, and is reportedly easy to ride.  Pictured above is an actual working prototype that weights about 120 lbs and runs for about 2.5 hours on an electric motor.  The bike really has no controls other than the handle bars and the drivers ability to shift his/her weight.  Similar to the Segway, the Uno uses two Gyros to keep itself upright and to operate.  Simply lean in the direction you want to go… forward to accelerate, backwards to go back, and to either side…

The Walking Bike

image

No need to worry about getting a flat tire just make sure you double knot your laces!  This bike was made by Max Knight for the madmen creative geniuses over at Arkitip.  We are not sure this is actually an UPGRADE over more conventional modes of transportation, but we have to give Knight credit for creativity.  As you can see by the video after the jump, it is not the smoothest ride on the street.  So while you probably won’t see Mario Cipollini rockin’ this in the Tour this summer, who ever’s crazy enough to ride this contraption will turn some heads.

The Monocycle by Hammacher Schlemmer

clip_image002

We all saw how the Segway stayed true to its promise to be the biggest design advance in recent history and change the world forever. Well there is a new bad boy in town, the Monocycle. From Hammacher Schlemmer comes this 67” diameter marvel. With a top speed of 25mph and a rip roarin’ 1.5 hp engine the Monocycle is a clever vehicle steered by simply leaning. This efficient machine has a decent range of operation with 2 hours running time on half a gallon of gasoline. The controls are mounted on the handle bars with finger operated throttle and break. One draw back is that the Monocycle is not street legal, and you probably can’t fit your girlfriend on here either. We still find the Monocycle concept intriguing and entertaining none the less.

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

image

The only thing more embarrassing than having to park your own Ferrari, is parking it on the street next to an identical quarter million dollar car.  You don’t drop that kind of cash to just join the crowd.  Ferrari has taken note of this concern and has started the One to One program which allows you to design your own Scaglietti in detail, and then they make whim a reality in a special section of the Maranello factory.   As you would expect, you have the option of tuning some jaw dropping performance with a V12 engine and a Super fast electro-hydraulic shifted gearbox but my favorite feature is not under the hood but over head…

This may not be quite what you would expect from Nissan. We’re not talking about being frugal, and prudent, and being a total wuss that’s afraid to shred some pavement for the girlies walkin’ by. We’re talkin’ the GT-R pumpin’ a straight 480hp through your bones and propelling all 4000lbs of this machine from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and you straight into higher insurance rates! With a 3.8 twin turbo charged engine and a top speed of 193mph you’ll be sure to be the first one to pick up little Tommy from soccer practice.

Cayman S Porsche Design Edition 1

image

Just looking at this car stirs a wealth of emotion… awe, lust, fear… I can only image driving it (no I have not yet had the privilege).  The designers make a bold statement in all black with the black paint, black matte stripes, black intakes, black handles, broken only by the gold logo on the front.  The aggressive curves and an elegant interior would make even the most pretentious, self-righteous designer swoon.
